Okay, before I start, in the previous reflection, I talked about the video that we have to do for this course. So, now my group mates and I decided a topic! Can you get the right answer? Hints are the pictures above!
THE ANSWER IS: FOOD HUNT IN PENANG!
Yes! We're going to Penang and E.A.T! Firstly, I'm so lucky to have group mates that have the same interest as me which is eat. Seriously we could eat all day long. I've never been to Penang and I've always wanted to go there so it's like a dream come true for me. The reason why we choose the topic was because we all love eating and we want to produce video which shows mouth-watering food in Penang. Other than that, we also want to promote Penang as one of the heritage site in Malaysia.
During the class, we were instructed to do a storyboard of the video we will be making. If you're wondering what a storyboard is, a storyboard is a panel or panels on which a sequence of sketches depict thesignificant changes of action and scene in a planned film, as for a movie, television show, or advertisement. Basically it is like a timeline of the entire video. How the video starts, the angles of the shoot for the scenes, everything is illustrated through storyboard. Storyboard can be done in several ways. For this class, we were given each group a sheet of mahjong paper. We were told to draw our story out. First, we divided our video into a few scenes, then draw columns for each scenes and started drawing. We did not only focus on the drawing but also the facial expressions of the characters, the angles and the surrounding. I think it's a good activity as we were actually planning our trip indirectly. This really helps us see the whole thing and tries to predict problems. For example, what should we do when it rains suddenly? What is our backup plan? Other ways that we can use to do the storyboard is using digital storyboard available on the internet like StoryboardThat.
So for our video, we have planned to do a Top 10 Food in Penang. That time, maybe we will try more than 10 food and choose 10 that we think are delicious. In the video we are going to insert clips of our journey to Penang. There's one part where Naufal will remind us about how much calories we have taken since the first day in Penang. We will be going to Penang by car and we'll be staying there for 4 days 3 nights. We will end the video by doing some exercise like jogging and swimming. This is to illustrate our message which is "Eat whatever you want but with limits and do exercise!". We have already set the date of this trip which is on the 1st April until 4th April 2016.
This is the storyboard that we have done.
I realised that a storyboard is really important in producing a video. Besides helping us predict what might happen, it also helps us to assume how much we need to actually produce this video; from preparing for props till the editing part. I learned a lot today!
Thank you to all lecturers!
